On Tuesday 3 March, please do come and support an event at St Paul's Church, Lake Road, Fairhaven, 7-9pm.
Arton Medd is the speaker. Arton has worked with the Diocese on the Fairtrade Agenda, visited the home of Divine chocolate in Ghana and is well equipped to talk about all aspects Fairtrade. There will be a chocolate tasting, raffle, quiz and usual refreshments. If you prefer a daytime event, the same format will take place earlier in the day at Freckleton Methodist Church, 2-4pm.
For the second year running Fairtrade Fortnight is focusing on the chocolate farmers, living income. £1.86 is the amount a cocoa farmer in West Africa needs to earn each day in order to achieve a living income.
In the Cote D ‘Ivoire, mostly all farmers live in poverty earning 0.74p a day. A living income means enough money to live a simple but dignified life , paying for essentials such as clothing , medicine and school. This is not a luxury but a human right.
Please come and support these events, being there is encouraging for the small team locally who steer Fylde Borough to maintain Fairtrade status (10 years +).
If you are able to help set up, clear away, make fairtrade cakes / goodies for these events; please call Julie – 07914 926422 or Christine – 07984 004973. All welcome.
