Area Dean's welcome

Our Deanery is situated in the north west of the Diocese and straddles the M6 from Forton Services to junction 34 of the motorway where a new link road has greatly improved accessibility from the motorway to Heysham and Morecambe.

This Deanery has a wonderful mix of rural parishes which are located out towards the Trough of Bowland and around the coastal area of Glasson Dock and urban parishes which are grouped around the City of Lancaster and the seaside town of Morecambe. There are 17 parishes in total in the Deanery which look after 24 places of worship.

There are 13 Church Primary Schools in the Deanery as well as a Church of England and Catholic High School. The Deanery also boasts 2 Universities, the University of Cumbria and Lancaster University.

The churches in this Deanery are actively involved in the life of the community which they serve but they also offer places of welcome, love and hope where all are valued, where all are included and where all people come together as the children of God to worship.

There is a Facebook page for the Deanery. Please note this is a closed group, if you wish to join, click the button and the Area Dean will add you.
