The greatest story ever told?  You will not have heard it quite this way before, told through the medium of modern music and seen through the eyes of The Angel Gabriel.

Go, Go Gabriel is a rock musical version of the famous Nativity story, told in modern language and co-written by one of Standish St Wilfrid’s parishioners, Andy Salisbury (music) and his friend, Jim Fieldsend (lyrics), originally for The Millennium. It is a full-blown musical stage production in the style of Joseph and His Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat.

Go, Go Gabriel is a faithful re-telling of the run up to the birth of Jesus as Gabriel and his backing group, “Gabe’s Angels” descend to Earth to give the glad tidings to Mary, right through to their journey to Bethlehem, (not) finding a place to stay and to give birth to the Son of God.  Imagine how Mary will take this news?  How will she tell Joe(seph)?

In Act Two, the shepherds, villagers and Kings visit the stable to find the babe lying there in swaddling clothes and to pay their respects, but all is not well.  Herod has heard about this King of the Jews and doesn’t want any New Kid On The Block, so sets about killing all male babies and young children.  Mary, Joseph and the baby Jesus must flee Israel and find a safer place to stay in Egypt.

Watch Gabe as he helps this amazing story come to life.  Go, Go Gabriel is told through 25 modern songs with very little spoken word.  It will be performed for the first time in Standish at St Wilfrid’s Church on Friday 16 and Saturday 17 November 2018.  Dates for your diary - as this is not to be missed.
