This November, brother and sister team of Daniel and Deborah Burke will have successfully navigated twenty years in business together. The pair own and operate Lightworks Stained Glass from their studio in Clitheroe along with their small but dedicated team. The firm specialises in the design and production of high-end bespoke new commissions and the restoration, conservation and protection of existing stained, leaded and historic glazing. Their clients can be found the length and breadth of the country as well as internationally and include homeowners, churches, listed and historic property owners, architects, specialist restoration contractors and English Heritage.
Daniel says, “It’s quite something to think we’ve been working away in our little studio together for twenty years but those years have literally flown by. It helps that we love what we do and though working with a sibling might not necessarily be for many people, with the different knowledge and skills we have, it certainly works for us”. He continues, “Stained glass is an ancient craft but one that is still very relevant in the 21st Century. While we embrace social media and all of today’s modern tools, we are hugely thankful to be able to contribute to the continuation of a skill that, like all heritage crafts, remains defiantly analogue in a digital age”.
To celebrate, Lightworks will hold an open-day at their Lowergate studio in the centre of Clitheroe. There will be demonstrations throughout the day and an opportunity to meet and chat to the team.
The open-day will be held from 9am until 3pm on Saturday 24 November at the companies studio: 122 Lowergate, Clitheroe, Lancashire BB7 1AG
