Training for Treasurers

As part of our series of training events to better equip the volunteers in our churches who use their gifts of administration to enable Vision 2026, we are holding a free training day on 6th October 2018, to help equip new treasurers but helpful for anyone who feels they would benefit with a review of the role of a church treasurer today.  The course will focus on Receipts and Payments accounts, not accrual accounts.  You can book your place here.

Based on the ACAT (Association of Church Accountants and Treasurers) Foundation Course for Treasurers, we are pleased to welcome Allan Hargreaves from ACAT who will deliver this training.  Ruth McGaughey and Stephanie Rankin will also be available to answer any question you may have.

The session will start at 10.00am with drinks available from 9.30am and will finish at 4.00pm.  Drinks will be provided on arrival, mid morning, lunchtime and mid afternoon, but we ask that you bring a packed lunch with you.  The venue is Diocesan Offices, Clayton House, Walker Office Park, Blackburn, BB1 2QE.

The final timetable is still being finalised, but is likely to include:

  • The role of the treasurer
  • Principles of Charity Accounting
  • Legal and financial overview
  • Yearend routines
  • Gift Aid and Gift Aid Small Donations Scheme (GASDS)
