Together Lancashire

Together Lancashire is a charity which works with Methodists, Anglicans and other denominations to tackle poverty in all its forms in Lancashire.

Church Urban Fund secured some funding from the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation to address some of the poverty in the area in 2012. The funding allowed the Diocese of Blackburn and the Lancashire Methodist District to come together with CUF to form Together Lancashire.

It is here to:

  • support churches and faith based groups in addressing the effects of poverty in their areas
  • help the groups involved to form local networks working towards a common goal

Together Lancashire works in local areas as well as thematically

  • Building networks of people and groups committed to Christian Social Action, for example PCAN and SW Burnley Together
  • Arranging Conferences to stimulate action, eg Refugee and Asylum Seeker support and awareness
  • Credit Unions and Financial Inclusion eg providing training through the Archbishop of Canturbury's Just FInance initiative
  • Addressing Food Poverty, including holiday hunger, across Lancashire through supporting church action
  • Sourcing and distributing grants, particularly through the Near Neighbours grant schemes in East Lancashire
  • Homelessness eg the Lancashire Sanctuary project which seeks to house desititute refugess and asylum seekers
  • Worklessness eg by calling out the impact of welfare reform
  • Rural Poverty eg by supporting the Diocesan Rural Focus groups and working with churches to find ways of engaging with their communities
  • Places of Welcome and Support address loneliness and we support the development
