Have you ever stopped to think about how we connect with digital media as Christians? The internet has radically changed our society to the point that our children are now a digitally native generation.

Open the Door is the name of this year's Children’s Ministry conference from the Board of Education in Blackburn. It’s theme this year is to consider how parishes ‘open their doors’ and share the Gospel with children currently outside of their church families and equipping them with tools to help them to connect with a digitally native generation.

The new Church of England Growing Faith initiative advocates every parish creating expressions of church where children, young people and families are actively involved, providing them with opportunities for  spiritual growth and it is anticipated that this conference will provide parishes with new ideas which will help them to explore how they engage with this.

The keynote speakers include Stela Stansfield (Safeguarding and Management Consultant) who will be looking at the positive application of technology to further the Gospel. Rob Steward (Scripture Union) will be tackling outreach and how to share the Gospel with children and young people not connected with Church and Ruth Hassall (Diocesan Director of Discipleship) who will talk about discipling children.

The conference will also have a fantastic choice of workshops including; Mental Health in Children and Young People, Guardians of Ancora, Using Digital Resources to Communicate the Gospel, and Engaging with and Ministering to Boys.

This year, for the first time, the conference will take place over a Friday and Saturday. Overnight delegates will have the chance to share a meal on Friday evening, use the venues leisure facilities and attend an evening session. The ticket will also cover accommodation and breakfast on Saturday morning, leading into the day conference. As usual there is also the option to come just for the day conference on Saturday for those who are unable to stay overnight.

The conference is open to anyone with a passion for Children’s Ministry and spaces fill up quickly, so we encourage you to book your place early to avoid disappointment.
