This year's 150th Anniversary of Longridge St Lawrence with St Paul becoming an ecclesiastical parish has seen its excellent events programme enjoyed by both parishioners and community since celebrations began in April.
The anniversary theme 'Celebrating the Past Looking to the Future' has been marked so far by the diocese's 'parish with two churches' with a talk on its history, a musical safari, a boundary walk, joining in Education Sunday, Longridge Field Day, the agricultural show, Create Longridge, and a vicarage garden party and bake-off.
Following a lull in organising during August's holiday month, events start again on Friday 14 to Tuesday 18 September with a themed exhibition in St Lawrence's Church, Longridge Band's concert on Saturday 22 and on Sunday 23 the Bishop of Burnley will be at morning service in St Paul's.
The evening will see a joint service at Ribchester St Wilfrid's, which is Longridge parish's original mother church.
The exhibition moves to St Paul's on Monday 24 September and celebrations conclude with a Parish Variety Night on Saturday 29 at the Civic Hall.
All services are at St Paul's on the Sunday when the Archdeacon of Lancaster will attend in the morning, and the evening is Songs of Praise starting at 6.30pm.
