The congregation of St Cuthbert’s in Lytham will be celebrating over the second weekend of July.
The highlight will be a visit by the Rt Rev John Pritchard, who grew up in Blackpool, and became Bishop of Oxford in 2008 - 2014. The Bishop will be preaching at a special Communion service on Friday 13 July at 7pm, which also marks the 26th anniversary of St Cuthbert’s Vicar the Rev Nick Wells’ Ordination as a Priest.
Nick grew up in Wrea Green where his Dad was vicar for many years and has served as a Vicar on the Isle of Man and in Liverpool before returning to the Fylde in 2016.
Last May Nick was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, proceeds from the weekend are being split between Myeloma UK and Lytham Church of England Primary School. After excellent treatment in the Haematology Department at Blackpool Victoria Hospital he is in remission and back at work.
The celebration weekend also includes a welcome to the Rev Adam Thomas, recently ordained Deacon in Blackburn Cathedral and beginning his curacy at St Cuthbert’s.
Nick Wells said “I am so looking forward to the weekend of the 13, we have much to be thankful for, and I extend an invitation for people to come and join with the people of St Cuthbert’s in our celebrations”
There will be a Pulled Pork Party on Saturday 14 and a Songs of Praise on Sunday afternoon at 4pm in the Vicarage garden.
