From the Resources OfficerMy name is Mary Smith and I am the Resources Officer for the Diocese. For many years I have been involved in the voluntary and community sector in various guises and for the last 5 years I have worked specifically with community groups assisting them to set up and become established. This included finding premises, setting up committees, compiling funding strategies, etc. Although I am working within the Blackburn Diocese I have for over 22 years worshipped and served in Rossendale in the Diocese of Manchester. Following and upholding the Bishop's vision of Prayer, Teaching and Mission, I will continue to use the excellent resources already in place but I will be continually seeking to build on these to assist and serve parishes. Believing parishes already have a wealth of resources through the talents and skills, time and money of their individual members, I seek to encourage parishes to identify and utilise these resources to the very best, in effect, to uphold Christian Stewardship and responsibility. I work alongside clergy and PCCs advising, assisting and encouraging them in Christian Stewardship. Other services include provision of information, training and advice on such matters as Gift Aid, funding projects, parish accounts, etc. I am contactable most days at the Diocesan Offices at Church House, Blackburn, telephone 01254 503070 ext. 207 or by email at mary.smith@blackburn.anglican.org |
