Mission Preparation Guide
To help parishes prepare for Crossroads, a Mission Preparation Guide has been produced and this can be obtained here. Copies of this were distributed at the Vision 2026 and Crossroads Mission Preparation evenings, or you can download the full copy or individual sections here.
Prayer for Crossroads
To help pray for Crossroads, you might like to use the resources produced by the Archbishops of Canterbury and York at the Thy Kingdom Come website, especially Pray for 5 Friends. We have produced a leaflet with specific prayer points in respect of Crossroads, which you can download here. You can find more resources and information to help you pray or organise prayer events at www.thykingdom.co.uk or on our website here.
How was Crossroads organised?
One (or more) Bishops, together with their teams, were allocated to each deanery. Archbishop Sentamu’s office invited the Bishops, and 22 visiting Bishops, together with the Archbishop of York and their teams, came to Blackburn Diocese in September 2016. Our own Bishops allocated them to deaneries and the Area Deans arranged for the visiting Bishops to come for a day or evening to spend time meeting people in the deanery. Deaneries were therefore key to the planning of this mission, and each deanery appointed a Deanery Co-ordinator to help plan Crossroads in their local area.
A basic rule in planning a mission is…‘If we do something, God will do something; if we do nothing, nothing will happen’.
A template was prepared to help plan mission events. If you want a copy then please click here for a version to download and complete, or here for a pdf version that you can print out and handwrite.
