Resourcing Lay Ministry

We aim to offer practical training to equip lay people to be active disciples in their local churches and communities. These are the training opportunities which we currently offer: we are open to suggestions of other areas where training might be helpful. Please contact Mandy Stanton by email or phone - 01254 503084, about this, or if you have several people interested in a particular course and would like us to run it in your area.
Occasional Preachers

We aim to equip those who already preach occasionally, and those who may be asked to do so, to do so in ways that honour God and God's Word and help to build up the Body of Christ in their contexts. The course is very practical and 'hands-on' and, if the participant's incumbent and PCC support them, entitles those taking part to be 'Occasional Preachers'.

The course flyer can be found here.

There are Diocesan guidelines regarding those who preach occasionally in our churches but who are not licensed Readers. To see these guidelines, click here.

Resourcing Pastoral Carers

This is a practical course, using materials produced by Pastoral Care UK, aimed primarily at those who carry out pastoral visiting on behalf of the church, or may begin to do so, but who are not commissioned Pastoral Assistants. It will enable members to develop their understanding of pastoral care from a Christian perspective and to become more effective in relating to and caring for the people and communities around them.

The course flyer can be found here which includes details of the next course and for a booking form click here.

Leading Worship

For anyone who would like to learn how to design and lead a Sunday service in a parish church, or is already doing so and would like to learn more about it.

The course flyer can be found here. For a booking form click here.
SHAPEd for God's Purpose

This informal 6 session course allows lay people to work together to help each other to explore their unique God-given “SHAPE,” and how they can use this in his service.

The course flyer can be found here and all of the materials for you to run the course are on our Discipleship page here.

Shared Ministry Conference

Anyone interested in developing lay leadership may like to know about a conference later this year entitled 'Bread, Fish and Expectancy: Growing Disciples, Sharing Ministry'. The conference runs from 19th-21st October 2017 at The Hayes Conference Centre, Swanwick and is organised by the national Shared Ministry Network.
